"River of Life" Murray Darling

Thanksgiving Tour Report

25 - 28 March 2012

(2nd draft 21 March 2012)

We have a lot to be thankful for. We had a prayer pilgrimage for the river system in 2008 and since then both the Murray and the Darling in particular has been in various states of flooding for the last 3 and half years. The Hume Weir in October 2008 was sitting on approx 30%. Currently it is sitting on 86.2% and Filling. The Dartmouth which was approx 25% in October 2008 is currently sitting on 81.3% and filling.  These are the two main storage facilities for the Murray and usually this is there low season. The Blowering and the Burrinjuck Dams which feed the Murrumbidgee are both sitting on 97% and 94% respectively.

Thankfully through prayer Wagga Wagga  was spared the worst during the recent flooding of the Murrumbidgee.  The five other biggest dams in NSW are between 98% and 123%. Warragamba dam achieved 105%  with water over the spillway on the 2nd of March 2012. This most recent inflows have all happened since the National Day of Prayer and Fasting on 19 February 2012 www.nationaldayofprayer.com.au

Peter and Warwick believe the healing of the river system is Gods Answered prayer to the prayers of the saints in 2007 and 2008 including the National Solemn Assembly. They also believe that these floods are a sign to all Australians  of a massive out pouring of the Holy Spirit across all of Australia. Lake Eyre flooded for three years in a row 2009, 2010 and 2011 and Lake Eyre could well Flood again this year. The “River of Life” talked about in Ezekiel 47 is coming to this land in natural form but soon there will be a revival and reformation. First the natural then the spiritual.  Ps Des Kranz from Mildura said the Murray and the river system has never been better. Four years ago all the river experts were saying it was the death of the Murray Darling  river System. The rivers are alive with new life!!!!!!! We have a lot to be thankful for.

"River of Life" Thanksgiving Services   25 - 28 March 2012

Warwick Marsh and Ps Peter Walker are asking Christian Minsters, Church leaders, local dignitaries, members of parliament, state government representatives, and member of the public to join with them in special Thanksgiving prayer services along the river. They invite others to join them on the journey.

Each prayer service will be held for approx 20 - 30 minutes. During each prayer service local dignitaries and church leaders will be asked to bring a brief greeting and/or lead in prayer and/or give a bible reading. Warwick Marsh and Ps Peter Walker will do likewise and then lead in a short communion service with prayers of thanksgiving for the healing of the land (2 Chronicles 7:14). Ezekiel Chapter 47: 1-12 will then be read out as a prayer of blessing for the natural and spiritual river of God to fill this nation. All those present will be invited to pray and participate as much as possible. A love offering will be taken up to help defray expenses. It is our goal to create a  Film documentary of the many answered prayers from the current Thanksgiving Pilgrimage and combine it with our 2008 footage to show the miracle of answered prayer. To God be the Glory.

History Behind First October 2008 Prayer Pilgrimage

The inland areas of Victoria and New South Wales had been in the grip of a severe drought for seven years. Some places had suffered longer. This caused unspeakable hardship for the farmers and regional communities in the inland areas. The Murray Darling river system was in a very poor state with no water for irrigation for many years now. The Federal Government instituted a forced buy back of irrigation rights because the situation was so serious.  In 2007, Chief Climate Commissioner Tim Flannery   made this claim  that Even the rain that falls isn’t actually going to fill our dams and river systems Scientists  warned of an irreversible ecological disaster in the Murray Darling.

Warwick Marsh and Ps Peter Walker were moved by the seriousness of the situation and with the support of the Australian Prayer Network and the Indigenous Prayer Network, Christian groups and individuals all over Australia they undertook a prayer pilgrimage along the Murray River from the Hume Weir to the Mildura Wentworth junction of the Murray Darling from the 30th September to the 1st of October 2008 .It might be noted that this prayer pilgrimage was just one of hundreds of prayer events praying for an end to the drought and the healing for the river system. The National Solemn Assembly in 2007 was a drought breaking event in more ways than one. See this link for further confirmation of this reality: http://ausprayernet.org.au/solemn_final_report.php

The purpose of the Murray Darling Prayer Pilgrimage was to rally people together to pray for a final end to the drought and for a flood of rain to fill the dams and clean out the Murray Darling River System and avert a human and ecological disaster. In the last 3 and half years God has more than answered these prayers. We enclose a link to our Murray Darling Prayer Report 2008 http://vimeo.com/1936082 It is quite fascinating to see this Video report in the light of the recent rains and floods. The place where this report was shot near Hay would now be well under water as of the 21/3/12.

We have a lot to be thankful about.  See the original 60 Second Video invitation on Albury TV: http://albury.magnify.net/video/Murray-Darling-Prayer-Pilgrimag
